Dulling of Emporador Marble in Miami
Aug 4th
Steam dulls marble. The water boiler lacks oxygen and light. Thus, the sulfites in the water undergo chemical change and transform into a mild form of sulfuric acid. However, if it is Emporador marble, it will take a long time. Instead, if you find streaks on the surface, it might be the result of improper marble cleaning. Next, using harsh marble cleaning methods can cause streaks on the surface. To repair this, clean up the soap scum and shower thoroughly.
Then, start out with marble polishing. Next, the professional will work on the etched areas with diamonds polishing pads. For more information, look up www.colonialfloorandstonecare.com. Need to speak to someone for a final decsion on what is good for your floor or counter top made from this beatiful marble. Call us at 975-566-4555 for more inoformation and a free.

This image, which clearly resembles a city skyline or even trees, are actually natural patterns created when this marble is formed. This marble was once commonly used as inlays for furniture and other decorative pieces.
At Colonial Floor Care, we know marble. We specialize in marble polishing, granite polishing, flooring of all types (travertine, terrazzo, concrete, marble, granite). We also provide expert care for marble countertops, granite countertops, and concrete polishing.

Tennesee marble, for example, is actually a granular fossilferous gray to pink maroon Ordovician limestone that geologists call the Holston Formation. Unlike some materials such as slate, marble and granite are easily cut and manipulated, while providing a durable, beautiful final product.
Knowing what kind oof marble you have tells us alot about its unique properties, and therefore the best way to carefully restore, polish and clean it.

According to Wikipedia, marble began as an architectural feature chiefly in ancient Greece and late in Rome. It was chosen as an architectural and artistic medium because of its durability, the ease with which it could be carved/manipulated and because of its ethereal beauty owing to its translucent appearance- this was achieved with the more pure white marbles such as are often seen in ancient Greek sand Roman Sculpture.

Southern Florida is one of the area’s that use Marble tile for show case floors that shine to a mirror like finish.! Marble and other stone materials like Granit, Terrazzo and even polished and stained concrete; are being used in new construction to bring higher value and beauty to a new home. However these materials have also been used for centuries!
Southern Florida’s older homes may have these gems hidden under years of linoleum tile, ceramic tile, or carpet just waiting for someone to discover them and have them restored! After uncovering that floor it may look dull, scratched, stained. Not the beauty you would expect from Marble. So you, as the home owner may say “lets just cover it back up with carpet”. However for the cost of new high quality carpet and installation costs, you will be surprised at how affordable it would be to clean, polish (repair if necessary) then seal the Marble that looks impossible to fix. Restoration of this material will not only make you the envy of the neighborhood, but increase the value of your home!
Marble comes in marble tile or slabs. Along with Granite and other stone, it is a porous material. Although durable and can take a beating; when properly installed and sealed. Sometimes the installation is not always the best, and you may find that there is lippage (having a tile higher in one spot and not meeting perfectly at the point of connection to the next tile). We have the right equipment and the experienced personal to be able to “Hone” (Honing is a process that takes an abrasive stone attached to a rotor type machine that will take the extra Marble down until smooth) When the surface is level, it is ready to be cleaned, then polished to a high shine and finally sealed to keep your surface shining and durable for years. Please feel free to call 305-731-2242 for a Free and we will send our skilled Craftsman to discuss your personal needs and give you a free Estimate.
We at Colonial Floor Care , have 20 experience of taking Marble that looks like it would never be able to look like it was new again, and bring back a brilliant shine! Scratches? Cracks? Not a problem. Our skilled Craftsman can come and discuss with you what needs to be done to Restore and Polish then seal the floor for an extended life. We will be discussing all aspects of marble care- cleaning, polishing and restoration!
What is marble polishing?
Marble is a material that is made of natural mineral consisting chiefly of re-crystallized calcite or dolmolite capable of achieving a high, shiny polish. This material comes in many colors .
According to The Natural Handyman, ”Refinishing marble is a matter of abrading the surface with a power sanding machine, using progressively finer grits until the scratches in the marble are microscopic , causing the surface to become reflective:

Marble Polishing, Keeping your Surface Shine and Durability

If you are lucky enough to have Marble or Granite for your counter top or floors, Congratulations! This type of stone surface, like Terrazzo, not only brings added beauty to your home, it also increases worth to your investment. Marble and other stone surfaces are also Eco friendly material which does not emit VOC’s. Marble has been used for centuries as a medium for building and Sculpure. It has survived the centuries in Greece, Rome and other cities where these stone were used extensively. However, this material is soft and porous and is easily scratched from foot traffic. If not sealed properly when first installed the life of this surface will be shortened considerably.
Today, daily maintenance is recommended to prolong the life of your Marble floor or counter tops. Counter tops are all the rage in today’s designs, can become stained and scratched also. Proper maintenance of these surfaces by cleaning properly every day and especially if there is anything spilled on the surface that could stain, it should be cleaned up immediately. To Clean on a daily basis, wipe with a clean, soft cloth after wetting with warm water and a gentle detergent. Acidic liquids, such as citrus juices, can easily scratch Marble. They must be Blotted up as soon as possible. After blotting up the spill, using clean water and soft cloth to clean, then dry with another clean and soft cloth (such as microfiber)
Even a diligent house keeper will find that the Marble surface will need a professional polishing and sealing at some point. We are able to easily erase away the dullness and scratches that comes eventually using a powder polishing process and for subborn stains, a poltice will be made and used and then after it has been allowed to set, a machine buffer will buff your Marble to a brillant shine.

We at Colonial Floor and Stone Care have over 20 years of experience to help you, the home owner; polish the dullness away! Call us at 305-731-2242 to have one of our Trained Craftsman explore the possibilities of polishing your Marble Floor or counter tops today.
